[edit] Glen E. Friedman

Thank you for your work on the article Glen E. Friedman. Unfortunately an editor has point out this is being copied from http://www.southern.com/BURNINGFLAGS/bio/. This material is under copyright by its author (even if not stated, unless stated it is released; and there is a copyright notice on one of the pages of that site). Please see WP:CV for more information on copyrights. We can not use material that is in violation of copyright, both for legal reasons and wikipedia policies. Any such material must at the minimum be rewriteen (see previosu link for information on avoiding copyright violation). Thank you for your contribution but please be sure to avoid violating copyrights. RJFJR 23:22, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

You have indicated that the material on Glen E. Friedman has been released by the copyright holder. I have consulted user:mindspillage and received the following explanation of the procedure necessary (italics are mine). I do not mean to be difficult but the process is slightly complicated (as you can see from the below explanation). We are merely trying to show proper respect for the copyrights of others. Please let me know if you have any questions about the documentation needed. RJFJR 02:32, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
First, you have to be sure that they mean to release it under the GFDL or into the public domain (if it is text) or under one of the several allowable licenses (if it is an image) -- "permission to use" is not enough, and if they really mean to release it, they need to say so. There are some example request letters to help explain to people what is meant by that at Wikipedia:Example requests for permission. After that, they should comment on the talk page that they release it, and also send an email to permissions@wikimedia.org. Cheers, Kat Walsh (spill your mind?) 02:16, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button Image:Wikisigbutton.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! HagermanBot 15:36, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
