If you object to a tag being placed, the general thing is to fix the errors, in this case you failed to do this anyway, leave an edit summary and talk page comment detailing what you changed and leave it for someone else to remove. The reason it is done this way is because wikipedia is a collaborative engine and as such consensus is usually needed. That, and you cannot possibly believe that you're the best person to judge if your edit solved the problem- it is hard to be objective on one's own edit.
