From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A sockpuppet account is a second or subsequent account held by the same person. If for example John Smith of New Jersey creates two Wikipedia accounts, one called User:JohnNJ445 and the other User:NewJerseyBoy7763 then those are sockpuppet accounts. Sockpuppet accounts are particularly problematic when:

  1. The sockpuppet accounts are used to influence policy or other decisions where a vote or straw poll is being taken
  2. The sockpuppet account is used to circumvent a previous block or ban
  3. The sockpuppet account is created to make it appear that an independent user is recreating a deleted article

It is clear that the account User:Jeternyc is a sockpuppet account of User:Kkinyon since you made exactly the same edits with the jeternyc account as you had with the Kkinyon account, even though you knew that this was inappropriate. Thus your editing privileges have been withdrawn. Please do not use multiple accounts to attempt to circumvent Wikipedia's policies. Thanks, Gwernol 21:09, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

OK, thank you very much for taking the time to offer this explanation. I don't, however, know what inappropriate edits were made, nor do I know who made them. I haven't logged onto Wikipedia to add content for a couple of weeks. I didn't even know that I had any editing privileges, but I'll take your word for it. Thanks. What a confusing site Wikipedia is!
