Such proxies are shared among a huge number of users compared to the number of persons using your particular machine. If you are frustrated by irrelevant comments appearing here, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself.

However, you might still be unable to edit Wikipedia if the IP you are using is blocked due to a MediaWiki "feature". In such a case you could request to be unblocked.

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits, such as those you made to Abraham Lincoln, are considered vandalism. If you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the hard work of others. Thanks. Mwanner | Talk 23:13, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Talk:Nickelback. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. ~a (usertalkcontribs) 02:49, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

You recently made an edit just to change the format of a date I entered in the DISH, Texas article. There are a number of different date formats; and while Wikipedia does not have a specified official standard, it does have a User Preferences (date) option so that a user can always see linked dates in their preferred format.
Users who do not specify a preference will see dates as they are entered in the article. In these cases I always use the ISO 8601 international standard of yyyy-mm-dd, as it is both efficient and the most universally understood—It might not be a user’s first choice, but it is language independent and the least ambiguous.
