Welcome to Wikipedia, the greatest encyclopedia on Earth! You seem to be off to a good start. Hopefully you will soon join the vast army of Wikipediholics! You may wish to review the welcome page, tutorial, and stylebook, as well as the avoiding common mistakes and Wikipedia is not pages. The Wikipedia directory is also quite useful. In addition, you might want to add yourself to the new user log; if you made any edits before getting an account, you may wish to assign those to your username.

By the way, an important tip: To sign comments on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments.

Finally, here are some open tasks:

I find that activating the preference "Add pages you edit to your watchlist" makes for a more dynamic Wikipedia experience. In order to possess a watchlist, you must create an account.

If you do create a username, I'd appreciate it if you could leave a message on my talk page (use the + button at the top to add a new section) so I know you've made the transition, because we may encounter each other again. Ground 14:02, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC) (UTC)

[edit] Invitation from WikiProject Chicago

Hi, I have noticed that you have been fairly active in editing the Chicago article and other articles related to the city. I have recently started WikiProject Chicago, a WikiProject designed to coordinate improvment of Chicago related topics and to turn the Chicago main page into a featured article, and would very much like you to join us. In order to achieve our fairly ambitious goals, we need devoted members who know the city inside and out and are willing to contribute their time and talent. Please visit the Project Page if you are interested in joining. Thanks, --Gpyoung 9 July 2005 17:51 (UTC)

[edit] Chicago Picture

  • Hi, Since you seem interested in the picture at the top of the Chicago page, I thought you might like to know that we will be conducting another vote on whether the old picture should stay or go as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Chicago. The vote will be between the old picture and a new one chosen by the WikiProject. The vote will be held at Wikipedia:WikiProject Chicago/PictureVote and will be open for 24 hours.

Thanks, --Gpyoung talk 21:22, 13 July 2005 (UTC)

  • Hi there, since you have shown support for my picture on Talk:Chicago, Illinois, I would appreciate it if you go back and vote for it in the place for votes for #4 now that I've added it to the official ballot (Picture #4). Thank you! Shoffman11 23:15, 20 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Dupage/Ohare/Chicago

The citation for the assertion on teh Dupage page that part of O'hare is in Dupage is bad. I deleted Dupage from teh Chcaigo page because I couldn't imagine that any part of Chicago was in Dupage. Now that you point it out I certainly recognize that it may be true but we need to have some evidence for this point from somewhere. Tedernst 17:06, 20 October 2005 (UTC)

I was't questioning the information. Thanks for the links to the old talk. I'll take a look. What I was questioning was the reference on the dupage page which just links to a mapquest map without any county markings on it. The dupage article has to be improved to show the citations and the Chciago page should also include links to references for this info. Tedernst 08:38, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Bernie Stolar

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Bernie Stolar, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
