[edit] Goldberg Variations, Variation 12

Hello! I wrote the description of Variation 12 and noticed your message on Dysprosia's talk page, so I thought I'd answer here. Now, maybe I misunderstand something about the structure of canons (I'm not an expert), but doesn't any canon start with a theme which is called the leader? That theme appears first in bar 1 of Variation 12 and appears inverted in bar 2, and thats why I stated that the leader appears inverted in the second bar. The follower is the counter-theme that starts in bar 2 and it can't appear inverted as it is the first time it appears in the piece. Compare to Variation 3 which is also a canon, and in which the leader remains the same in bar 2. Jashiin 21:20, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I don't know why I wrote what I wrote. What I meant is that the follower in bar 2 is the leader inverted and there's no sense to say that "the follower is inverted" as it is, well, the first time there's a follower happening. Jashiin 21:27, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Allright, I think I will do just that. Although it occured to me that the comment is somewhat useless.. its only one bar, the effect is pretty common and it doesn't add much to the description. Initially I only did the sentence because the earlier version of the text had it mentioned, so now I wonder if its needed at all.
Even though you don't often edit articles, I think it'd be great if you registered - every little bit added to Wikipedia counts! Especially since we don't have a lot of people who know things about music theory. And it makes things much more comfortable; for instance, I wasn't sure myself about how to contact you :) (ie. I didn't know if you would check Dysprosia's talk page again or not, or if this IP is yours only or shared by many, etc) Jashiin 22:02, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
