From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Attention:

This IP address, 65.91.82.62, is registered to KQED Public Radio, Broadwing Communications Services, Inc., and may be shared by multiple users. If the organization uses proxy servers or firewalls, this IP address may in fact represent many users at many physical computers.

For this reason, a message intended for one person may be received by another and a block may be shared by many. If you are editing from this address and are frustrated by irrelevant messages, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself. In some cases, you may temporarily be unable to create an account due to efforts to fight vandalism; if so, please see here.

If you are autoblocked repeatedly, we encourage you to contact your Internet service provider or IT department and ask them to contact Wikimedia's XFF project about enabling X-Forwarded-For HTTP headers on their proxy servers so that our editing blocks will affect only the intended user. Alternatively, you can list the IP at Wikipedia:WikiProject on XFFs.

Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking - if a block is needed, administrators should consider using a soft block with the template {{anonblock|optional comment}} as the block reason.

Note: In the event of vandalism from this address, abuse reports may be sent to your network administrator for further investigation.
IT staff who want to monitor vandalism from this IP address can subscribe to a web feed of this page in either RSS or Atom format.

[edit] External link edits

Please do not add commercial links or links to your own private websites to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thanks. And yes I know it's an NPR station, the links are still inappropriate. Phr (talk) 16:50, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Spamming of http://spam.kqed.org

65.91.82.62 (talkcontribsdeleted contribsWHOISRDNStraceRBLshttpblock userblock log)
Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. You are, however, encouraged to add appropriate content to the encyclopedia. If you feel the material in question should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.
If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with,
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors,
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. For more details about what constitutes a conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest. Thank you. --Hu12 22:54, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

I have restored all the links to the PBS page that apparently you own or oversee in some way. After talking to Hu12, we have decided to put them back because of the value they add to the page. Personally, I believe that as long as you DON'T ADVERTISE IN ANY WAY, you may add links to pages in your influence FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY, which apparently is what you did. I would definitely steer clear from editing pages that are about your organization, however. That is conflict of interest that matters. Good Day. SeanMD80talk | contribs 00:46, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] External links

I have reviewed an external link you placed to your own web site on the artice Lawrence Ferlinghetti.[1] It is not normally permitted to place such links to your own site. However, this link to a video was, in my opinion, an excellent addition to the article, as links to non-copyvio video are relatively rare. I therefore endorse this addition. I have not reviewed other additions, but if they are videos of a similar quality, then I would have the same opinion. Please note, other editors may disagree with me. However, when you add a link, please put this in the edit summary box:

See User talk:65.91.82.62#External links

Also please change the wording of the description of the link. It currently reads:

Lawrence Ferlinghetti featured on KQED Spark

It should read something like

Video of Ferlinghetti talking about his paintng

This is much more useful to the reader.

Failure to follow the procedures above is likely to result in more deletions of these links.

[edit] Please stop

This is your only warning.
The next time you insert a spam link, as you did to Michael Franti, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Spammers may have their websites blacklisted as well, preventing their websites from appearing on Wikipedia and other sites that use the MediaWiki spam blacklist. --Dirk Beetstra T C 23:20, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

I am sorry, but I do think that you should respond to this, and find a solution. Wikipedia is not a linkfarm, and interviews can, IMHO, be used as a reference, and do not necessarily be in the external links sections. After all, we are writing an encyclopedia here. Please make contact with a wikiproject, and ask them to either create a template that you can use, or discuss the link-additions on the talkpages. Thanks. --Dirk Beetstra T C 23:23, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

I am sorry, I have blocked you for 31 hours. You have recieved a couple of warnings above, and although some users seem to allow you to add the links, there is no response from your side to any of these warnings. I again ask you, after the block expires, to contact a wikiproject, and find a solution. At this moment I feel that you are (bordering on) violation of many of our policies and guidelines, and I do believe that this should be discussed with you first. --Dirk Beetstra T C 23:33, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

I have reported this to Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Spam#http:.2F.2Fspam.kqed.org. I hope you will join the discussion there. --Dirk Beetstra T C 23:49, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] October 2007

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did to Oceanside, California, you will be blocked from editing. Arthurrh 19:03, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make any unconstructive edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant warnings.

[edit] December 2007

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to KQED. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Anastrophe (talk) 03:29, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
