Chili Palmer was a real man. He was my father. He just passed away on Monday, April 28th. His pride and joy was having a movie based on his life. He was friends with the author, Elmore Leonard, who wrote the novel "Get Shorty" which later became a movie. The character is based on him and, yes, he appears in the opening scene of the movie opposite John Travolta as one of "Ray Bones" (played by Dennis Farina) henchmen. I am writing this to honor my father, whom I miss very much and let everyone know that not only was Chili Palmer a real man... he was THE man!
