I feel quite as disappointed as you that major opera houses don't put on Meyerbeer operas, although perhaps I am not the purist you are in voices. But you should not put these views up in the article on Meyerbeer - they are your opinions, but they are not encyclopaedic facts. Same problem!

"Tibbett left a legacy of superlative recordings made in the 1920s and '30s. They are available on CD. His voice was dark, rich and wide-ranging with a characteristic, virile tone. He used his vocal resources with almost profligate abandon during the years of his prime, but seldom at the expense of sensitive musicianship."

The problems with this paragraph are all the descriptive words: Superlative, dark, rich, virile, profligate abandon...

Regardless of how well these words may describe the artist's style, it is necessary to back them up by citing your source. You can't give a personal opinion.

So what you have to do is write something like "The critic John Bloggs, writing in the Such and Such, said of Tibbett that his voice was ........."

This is an ongoing problem experienced by everyone who writes about Arts subjects. It is hard not to be descriptive.
