The 54th British Film Awards, given by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts on 25 February 2001, honoured the best in film for 2000.

Ridley Scott's Gladiator won the award for Best Film (also won the Academy Award for Best Picture). Ang Lee won the Award for Best Director of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Billy Elliot was voted Best British Film of 2000. The film's lead actor, Jamie Bell, won the award for Best Lead Actor and Julie Walters received the award for Best Supporting Actress. Julia Roberts won the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her role in Erin Brockovich. She would go on to win the Academy Award. Benicio del Toro (Traffic) won the award for Best Supporting Actor.
