- Jefferies's Regiment of Marines, numbered as the 53rd Foot in 1747.
- 53rd Regiment of Foot, raised in 1754 and renumbered as the 51st in 1756.
- 53rd (Shropshire) Regiment of Foot, raised as the 55th and renumbered as the 53rd in 1756.
