"4 Words (To Choke Upon)" is the first single released by Welsh metalcore quartet Bullet for My Valentine, taken from their EP Hand of Blood and later their debut album The Poison. The song is about what the band went through as 'Jeff Killed John' and 'Opportunity in Chicago' with people telling them that they would never get anywhere with their music and that they should just give up. This song was the first song written under the name of 'Bullet For My Valentine'. The "four words to choke upon" are "look at me now", which refer to how the band is mocking the people who said that they would never get anywhere with their band.[citation needed]

This track was not on the original self titled E.P released in the UK, but released as single instead, with the vinyl being strictly limited to only 1000 copies. The track was later released on the American release of the E.P titled 'Hand of Blood'. The band has currently released Scream, Aim, Fire.

The B-side for the CD release of the single is the un-edited version the E.P track, 'Curses'.
