4 This Way! is a unique four-digit game offered by the New Mexico Lottery. It began in 2004.
Usually, at least in the United States, four-digit games offer various ways to play (box, straight, combination, etc.) and wagers usually start at 50 cents. 4 This Way! bets are $1 each, and the digits need to match in exact order. However, players can win by matching only one digit, and, therefore, the overall odds are 1 in 10.
The top prize is $4,000 for matching all four digits in exact order. This compares to $5,000 for most $1 straight bets in US pick-4 games; however, traditional "straight" wagers lose if even one digit is wrong. 4 This Way! players win $40 if the last three digits match, $4 if the last two are correct, and $1 if the last digit is a match.
On July 27, 2007, the New Mexico Lottery announced it was discontinuing 4 This Way! Its final drawing was held on Saturday, October 27, 2007.
