4739 Tomahrens is an asteroid named after a geophysics professor , Thomas J Ahrens.

Tomahrens is an asteroid of the solar system. It was uncovered on October 15, 1985 by Edward Bowel. It orbits the sun at 2,7405325 AU.

For centuries asteroids have been traditionally named after mythological figures and geographical places as well as renowned scientists, poets, composers, artists, novelists and other prominent personalities.
