40 More Reasons To Hate Us is the name of an album by Anal Cunt, recorded after their Japanese Tour in June 1995 and released on March 26, 1996, on Earache Records. The name of the album was used to reflect the notoriety that the band had achieved due to their controversial song titles and lyrics as well as their friendly relationships with racist music groups such as Vaginal Jesus. The relationship with Vaginal Jesus was quite openly expressed, with Anal Cunt performing covers of their songs during concerts, especially in the "early years". Despite the name, the album actually contains forty two tracks with backing vocals from Philip H. Anselmo (Pantera, Arson Anthem, Down, etc.). The title probably comes from the fact that only 40 of the tracks are originally be the band as, "Theme from Three's Company" and "Gloves of Metal" are cover songs. As with most of their albums, the average track length is less than a minute long, with the whole album being roughly 30 minutes in length.

[edit] Line-up

The official line-up for this album is Seth Putnam (Vocals), Tim Morse (Drums and Vocals on #39) and Scott Hull (Guitar) - Scott (from Pig Destroyer and Agoraphobic Nosebleed) had recently replaced John Kozik as the A.C. guitarist. However, according to Seth, he did most of the guitar playing and a lot of the drumming, as Tim could not play what he wanted him to and Scott was too new in the band to know all of their songs, as well as the fact that Seth just wanted to play guitar. Thus, only 3 or 4 of the songs have the full Seth/Scott/Tim line-up. Pantera, Superjoint Ritual and Down frontman Phil Anselmo also features on this album, as Seth Putnam, of Anal Cunt, was a good friend of Phil; whenever Pantera used to play in Boston, Anal Cunt would always open for them, and Seth Putnam did some backing vocals for Pantera’s ‘The Great Southern Trendkill’. Phil plays guitar on the tracks "Van Full Of Retards" and "Gloves Of Metal" and does backing vocals on tracks 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 21, 29, 30, 33, 34 and 37. "Gloves Of Metal" is a cover of a Manowar song, and has become a favourite among fans. There is also an alleged rivalry surrounding this song, between Anal Cunt and the English band Solstice, as apparently, A.C. stole Solstice’s idea for the Manowar cover. However, in an interview, Seth Putnam denied any knowledge of this rivalry and even any knowledge of the band Solstice. Finally, the "A.C. Men’s Chorus", whose members are unknown, do backing vocals on tracks 10, 28 and 40.
