3rd Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment (United States)

The 3rd Battalion 158th Aviation Regiment was activated 25 July 1968 in the Regular Army as Company C, 158th Aviation Battalion, an element of the 101st Airborne Division, at Fort Riley, Kansas.

It was inactivated 16 October 1986 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky and relieved from assignment to the 101st Airborne Division.

The unit was redesignated 16 September 1987 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 158th Aviation.

Withdrawn 16 September 1988 from the Regular Army, the Battalion was allotted to the Army Reserve, and activated at Glenview, Illinois (organic elements concurrently constituted and activated).

The Battalion was inactivated 1 September 1995 at Glenview, Illinois.

Withdrawn 16 October 1997 from the Army Reserve and allotted to the Regular Army. The Battalion was concurrently redesignated as Company C, 158th Aviation and activated in Germany.

The Battalion was reorganized from 5th Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment and redesignated 16 October 2000 as 3rd Battalion, 158th Aviation (organic elements concurrently activated).

As of mid-2001, a detachment from Foxtrot Company, 159th Aviation Regiment, was deployed to Camp Able Sentry, Macedonia, in support of KFOR and Operation JOINT GUARDIAN.
