Description

Diagram of British 3 inch Case Shot, Mk V. 1914.
For use with the following guns :-

The copper band around the base is to seal the bore on firing, but does not impart spin, which would cause too great a lateral dispersion of the balls.
On firing, gas issues through the hole in the base causing the body to break away from the base and causes the bullets to be released from the body before it has left the barrel.
Effective up to 300 yards.
