Description

BRITISH FORCES IN THE SALONIKA CAMPAIGN 1915-1918
IWM caption reads : "The crew of a British mobile anti-aircraft gun rush to man their weapon after enemy aircraft are sighted".
Comment : This is a 3 inch "13 pounder QF Mk IV" anti-aircraft gun by the Elswick Ordnance Company. It is identified by the slightly longer additional recuperator above the standard recuperator, to facilitate the barrel's run out at high angle.
The gun is mounted on on a Peerless lorry.
NOTE : This version of the photograph has brightness and contrast artificially increased to highlight detail.
