37th parallel north

The parallel 37° north is an imaginary circle of latitude that is 37 degrees north of the Earth's equatorial plane.
Starting at the prime meridian and heading eastwards, the parallel 37° north passes through:

- The Ionian Sea
- Greece (Peloponnese)
- The Aegean Sea (including the Greek islands of Sifnos, Antiparos, Paros, Naxos, Levitha and Kalymnos)

- Iran
- The Caspian Sea
- Turkmenistan
- Afghanistan
- Tajikistan
- Kashmir (area administered by Pakistan)
- The People's Republic of China
- The Yellow Sea
- South Korea
- The Sea of Japan
- Japan (Honshū)
- The Pacific Ocean
- The United States
- The Atlantic Ocean
- Portugal (Santa Maria Island in the Azores and the mainland)
- Spain

From west to east, the parallel 37° north passes through the states of California and Nevada, then forms the southern boundary of the states of Utah, Colorado, and Kansas and the northern boundary of the states of Arizona, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, before passing through Missouri, Illinois (where the area south of the parallel is only about 5 square miles), Kentucky and Virginia.
Landmarks on the parallel include Santa Cruz, California, Gilroy, California, Madera, California, Ubehebe Crater in Death Valley, Colorado City, Arizona/Hildale, Utah, Four Corners at the intersection with 32nd meridian west from Washington (the only place in the United States where four states touch), Cairo, Illinois, Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Newport News, Virginia.
The parallel 37° north formed the southern boundary of the historic and extralegal Territory of Jefferson.
