[edit] Background
It is the major combat arms unit in the Ohio Army National Guard. It is aligned with the 38th Infantry Division as part of the United States Army National Guard. It will follow in the traditions of the 37th Infantry Division, known as the "Buckeye Division."

Assisting these units will be one fires battalion (1-134th Field Artillery), the 237th Brigade Support Battalion, and the 37th Brigade Special Troops Battalion.
This unit was placed on alert on 9 April 2007 for possible deployment to Iraq in 2008.
