36th Street is a local station on the IND Queens Boulevard Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of 36th Street and Northern Boulevard in Queens, it is served by the R train (all times except late nights), by the V train (weekdays), by the G train (evenings and weekends), and by the E train (late nights).
There is no crossover or crossunder present. The southbound side has a platform level mezzanine and three staircases to the street, one of which stretches out one block to the north at 37th Street via a platform-level passageway. HEET access is available, so a MetroCard or Single ride ticket can be used to enter the station without taking the long walk down to the main fare control area. The northbound side has two mezzanines. The one at the north end has HEET access, while the other at the south end has a part time booth. Both entrances have one street stair to exit. Route selector punch boxes are found at the southbound tracks. This location is where F trains divert to 21st Street–Queensbridge.
This is one of two stations on the R that is named "36th Street," the other is 36th Street/Fourth Avenue on the BMT Fourth Avenue Line in Brooklyn.
