'Mamohato of Lesotho

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Queen 'Mamohato Bereng Seeiso (née Princess Tabita 'Masentle Lerotholi Mojela) (28 April 19416 September 2003) served as regent (head of state) of Lesotho on three occasions - from 5 June to 5 December 1970, 10 March to 12 November 1990, and 15 January to 7 February 1996. She was the wife of King Moshoshoe II and the mother of King Letsie III.

Another of her sons, Prince Seeiso, has joined the UK's Prince Harry in founding a charity, Sentebale in memory of their mothers. Sentebale supports organizations working with disadvantaged young people and children, particularly those whose parents have died as a result of HIV and AIDS - almost 30% of the country's adults are HIV positive, the world's third highest HIV prevalence rate. ""Sentebale means 'forget me not'. We chose the name as a memorial to our mothers' charity work - and as a reminder to us all not to forget Lesotho or its children," Prince Harry told the Concert for Diana website. He had nominated Sentebale as a recipient of any proceeds from the July 1, 2007 concert in London's Wembley Stadium, organized by Harry and his brother Prince William to celebrate their mother's life and commemorate her achievements on what would have been her 46th birthday.

The concert, being televised live by host broadcaster BBC One and to be shown live - or in highlights shows - in 140 countries will feature some of Princess Diana's favourites including Duran Duran, Elton John and Rod Stewart as well as more recently-discovered talent, including Lee Mead, whom viewers' votes had - on June 9, 2007 - made the winner of the BBC's Any Dream Will Do TV search for a new leading man to take the title role in a West End revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
