"Timelines of World History" (John B Teeple, 2002), shows Asir to have been an independant region between Yemen and Nejd in 1925... Therefore the claim here that it was taken from Yemen seems unlikely, unless it was part of Yemen when Yemen was part of the Ottoman Empire... Furius

Pre-1925 Yemen had two people competing for leadership position one of those people was in the Asir region of Yemen and gained much of Asir's populations support and claiming his own independent state unrecognized by Yemen. It seemed short lived as they were on the brink of rejoining Yemen if it were not for Saudi forces rallying to keep Asir independent yet ended up keeping Asir themselves. Through a peace treaty between the leader of Yemen & the King of Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia kept Asir as well as Najran & Jizan. Remember Saudi Arabia was just a newly created country originating in Najd region. In those years Saudi Arabia was usurping lands from neighboring countries to the north, south, east and west in the Arabian Peninsula. by BB
