[edit] Fair use claim for photo to be used in Babe Ruth article
The source of this photo is the book The Pulitzer Prize-Winning Photographs by Hal Buell, published in 2002 by Tess Press, an imprint of Black Dog and Leventhal Publishers, Inc. Their address is 151 West 19th Street, NY 10011. The book ISBN is 1-57912-501-8. This Pulitzer Prize winning photo was taken on June 13, 1948 by Nat Fein, who worked for the New York Herald Tribune. The uploaded photo size is less than its source, with less resolution and contrast. The fair use claim for this photo is reserved for use only at Wikipedia.org, and for educational and non-profit uses only.
A fair use claim is made for this photo to be used in the article on Babe Ruth. Considered one of the most famous sports photographs, this photo, as well as many other Pulitzer winning photographs, has been frequently reproduced and used in many publications. In the Babe Ruth article, a detailed paragraph is given on the events surrounding this article. Ruth, fighting terminal cancer, was at the end of his life when he made one last public appearance that celebrated the 25th anniversary of the opening of Yankee Stadium. The ceremony however was more a celebration of what Ruth brought to the game, and Ruth's speech and his bow the crowd was not only a farewell to baseball, it was his farewell to life—he passed away just two months after this photo was taken.
The bat on which he is leaning belonged to Bob Feller.
Note-The title for this photo should have read 'June' instead of 'April', since this photo was taken in June.
