[edit] History and Profile
2nd Avenue(formerly ETC 2nd Avenue) is a general entertainment channel in the Philippines, owned by Solar Entertainment Corporation. ETC 2nd Avenue launched December 15, 2005 and started test broadcasts. In January 17 2007, it went through a major change.
A bolder, fresher, more sophisticated channel was launched with a new name, 2nd Avenue. Spearheaded by its new Network Manager, Mai Gonzales, the station was positioned to cleverly mirror real life in the very demanding city life, targeting the yuppie audience and top business decision makers, down to issues and situations that were very risque in nature but absolutely relevant to its market. This helped gain equity for the channel as they got to own "Urban Entertainment". With its new bold and fresh green logo, its more sophisticated on-air look and its innovative and relevant campaigns, the station eliminated competition by carving out a new, unique niche for itself, competition-proof, in the very demanding broadcast industry. Built on solid strategy inspired by its audience and armed with intellectual programming with a more edgy sense of humor, 2nd Avenue created a loyal fan-base in a matter of months and fortified its brand in Philippine Cable television.
With a roster of high-quality shows of diverse, alternative background, 2nd Avenue is the country’s pioneer of feisty, sophisticated and intelligent urban entertainment.
Showcasing the hip city lifestyle through its real, fearless programming, 2nd Avenue serves an eclectic mix of critically acclaimed and thought-provoking shows that cater to audiences with a more mature and more discriminating taste. Transcending genres from appealing talk shows, up-to-date news programs, gripping dramas, side-splitting sitcoms and unbridled reality series, 2nd avenue offers a line-up that’s anything but ordinary.
Now as it prepares to traverse further horizons, 2nd Avenue is ready to extend its reach by bringing urban entertainment to a bigger and wider audience. Breaking the barriers of television as we know it, 2nd Avenue is truly entertainment without borders.
