[edit] Overview

"2 Rights Make 1 Wrong" is a nine minute long instrumental song, featuring a wide range of instrumentation, including guitars, bass, drums, brass, and banjo. The track also features indecipherable vocals, sang by Barry Burns, ran through a vocoder, as well as chanting towards the end of the song, performed by Charles Clark and Willie Campbell of Astrid, Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol, and Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals. The banjo during the coda was programmed by The Remote Viewer. The song's title is a reference to the logical fallacy, "Two wrongs make a right", and, quite commonly for Mogwai, has nothing to do with the actual song.

When played live, the song is often extended, through usage of cello (usually played by Luke Sutherland) playing along to the vocoder melody, and an electronic drumbeat-backed outro, which builds into a massive crescendo. Often, it is performed in a medley, preceded by "Secret Pint" and a brief version of "Punk Rock". A version of the song was recorded for Steve Lamacq's show on BBC Radio 1, in April 2001. The song was originally titled "Banjo".[1]
