2 On 2 Open Ice Challenge is an ice hockey arcade game released by Midway in 1995. It was ported to PlayStation in 1996 and PC (Windows) in 1997.
This game is an official licensed product of the NHLPA (National Hockey League Players Association). It features the voice of the legendary NHL announcer Pat Foley. Over 100 real players, each player's skill level reflects his real NHL ability.
This is the only NHL game that has had the rights to have both of hockey's greatest, Wayne Gretzky & Gordie Howe (Hidden Player) in the same game.
[edit] Rosters and Team changes
The game features the now defunct Winnipeg Jets, although they are replaced in the home versions by the Phoenix Coyotes. The Hartford Whalers are also present in both versions of the game, due to them still remaing active until they went defunct in 1997. The Arcade version follows the 1995-1996 NHL Season, while the home version follows the 1996-1997 NHL Season.
