Talk:2600 hertz
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I changed: In order for blue boxing to work, the initial call must be made across an interoffice MF trunk, so local calls (those which originated and terminated on the same switch) wouldn't work. By placing a call to a distant toll-free number, interoffice trunks could be involved but no billing was incurred. Using a blue box during a toll-free call would allow the user to call anywhere for free. Cracking the phone system became a hobby for some in the mostly under-20 set who came to be known as phone phreakers.

because there is no citation to support the fact that phreaking was "mostly" the under-20 crowd. Cornlad 19:55, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
In Hack/Phreak culture, phreaks don't like to be referred to as "phreakers" 90% of the time they are referred to as simply "Phone Phreaks"
[edit] Link to wav file isn't 2600 hertz.
I've measured the linked wav file ( http://lospadres.info/thorg/2600Hz.wav ) at 2777 hertz +/-5, 2782hz using speaker-test from Alsa as comparison. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Odokemono (talk • contribs) 23:13, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
