[edit] History
It started in the late 1980s when the DJs play the music of the 70s and 80s. 24K Friday broadcasted from 6am on Friday - 6am on Saturday. Instead of using the slogans (Your Maximum Music Authority, Your Music Authority, Your Source For The Best Hits, The Most Hit Music) in 24K Friday, 99.5 RT used the first slogan, The Rhythm of the City. 24K Friday lasted every Friday until the end of 2006.
[edit] 24K Friday on Mix FM
Since 2000, Davao City's 105.9 Mix FM started airing 24K Friday. Its format is the same as 99.5 Hit FM. It plays all the hits of the 70s and 80s (except the 90s hits because of #1 Weekend), but it is focused only with the 80s. Until today, it still aired.
[edit] As Old school Wednesday
Instead of using the 24K Friday for the yesterday's music show, 99.5 Hit FM used Old School Wednesday, which played the music of the 80s and 90s. Old School Wednesday broadcasted every Wednesday from 12mn - 9pm. It lasted from the start of 99.5 Hit FM until the last Wednesday of August.
[edit] The Comeback of 24K Friday
On the 1st Wednesday of September, the management of 99.5 Hit FM decided to bring back 24K Friday. On September 7, 2007, 99.5 Hit FM started broadcasting the 24K Friday, but the format is not the same as the 99.5 RT's 24K Friday. It plays all the hits of the 70s and 80s, but it is focused only with the 80s. Instead of using 99.5 RT's first slogan, The Rhythm of the City, they used The superstars of the 80s and Yesterday's hottest Hits. The all new 24K Friday broadcasted every Friday all day long. Even though the all new 24K Friday was successful, it only lasted for 9 Fridays (September 7 - November 2).
[edit] The Replacement
On November 9, 2007, the all new 24K Friday was replaced with #1 Hit Weekend. Since the 3rd Saturday of September 2007, #1 Hit Weekend played the hottest hits of the 90s every Saturday all day long, but it was moved to Friday on November 9, 2007.
[edit] Another Comeback of 24K Friday
On January 6, 2008, 99.5 Hit FM resumed the 24K Friday as 24K Experience, but the format is not the same as the 99.5 Hit FM's 1st version of 24K Friday. 24K Experience played the hits of the 70s and 80s (the same format as 99.5 RT's 24K Friday, except the music of the 90s because of #1 Hit Weekend) , including some of the 60s music. It aired every Sunday from 2pm - 6pm and was hosted by Joshua. Even though 24K Experience was successful, it only lasted every Sunday until March 16, 2007.
[edit] The End of 24K Friday
Since 99.5 Hit FM was gone, the best radio show in history 24K Friday is gone, but not forgotten.
[edit] The Revenge of the 80s
Since its reformatted as 99.5 Campus FM, it was replaced by Campus Classic Weekend's "Revenge of the 80's" which plays every Sundays from 8:00 am - 9:00 am and from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
