[edit] Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button Image:Wikisigbutton.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 21:28, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Blanking of this talk page

Dear 24.62.56.197, you are free to blank your talk page, although archiving is preferred, however, doing so is an acknowledgment that you've read the warnings given to you, and please realize that blanking the talk page does not make the warnings invalid, or "clear your slate". Administrators still know what edits you have done, and what warnings you have been given, as they are in the page's history. Please consider your actions, take a look at the help pages and see how you can help Wikipedia. Specifically, edits such as this should not be done without discussion, as you are removing significant amounts of information, and changing the context, and neutrality of the article. Please review Wikipedia's core policies, among which are neutrality, and verifiability. If you have concerns with content in articles, or with its presentation, please discuss such major changes on the talk page, rather than simply blanking portions of articles. Thanks, ArielGold 02:20, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Contributing constructively to Wikipedia

You have a pattern of repeatedly removing content from articles without giving a reason, and of adding unsourced information to articles. Both are unproductive, and are likely to get reverted and be interpreted as vandalism. It is much better to discuss the changes first on the talk pages of the articles. When you make them, you should always give an edit summary. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia.  --Lambiam 08:23, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

You wrote that you know that the numbers that the original person stated were flat-out lies. To start, here on Wikipedia we assume good faith as long as the contrary has not been proved. How can you possibly know that the editor deliberately introduced false information? Next, many people think they know something, but, unfortunately, what they "know" is wrong. How can we check that what you read on that website that you remember coming across is reliable information, and that your memory of what you read is correct? The web is full of trash, and people's memories are notoriously unreliable. Please take a look at the welcome page, as I recommended above, and understand that our policy of verifiability is not negotiable.  --Lambiam 23:11, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Indo-Jamaican

Thanks for the sources, your feedback is much appreciated.

It's hard to find a single population figure that describes the Indo-Jamaican community; one source says 60,000, another says 35,000, etc. That's ONE reason why I'm not in a rush to put a number down. The other reason is vandalism. On the Chinese Jamaican article I made a mistake by putting 55,000, but apparently it's 5,500 according to my estimate. When people don't believe what they read in an article, it may be subject to vandalism, so they might change the number or whatever.

If we can find at least two sources, which give roughly the same number of Indo-Jamaicans (not including mixed, because mixed people have their own category), then it should be alright to use that number or round that number off. I want to do the same thing with the Chinese Jamaican article, but I need the sources. One last thing – PLEASE sign your comments after you make them, by clicking "sign your username". [edit] RE: Child???? (Mackenzie Rosman)

"she is now 18 and is not a child. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.62.56.197 04:40, 15 February 2008 (UTC) "

Take the time to read the link to child actress in the same sentence, which states that the term applies to "an adult who began his or her acting career as a child". Ward3001 (talk) 04:54, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
