I'm sorry that Club Penguin was deemed non-notable, and now you've lost the link. Unfortunately, Wikipedia is not a link repository; just a serious online encyclopedia. Try Google? - CobaltBlueTony 16:51, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you
{{helpme}} I do not consider the edits I made to be advertising or spam. I have added these edits only in areas where they are 100% relevant and where there is a list of other commercial vendors or implementations. These additions I made go to the completeness of the material in Wikipedia, and are factually accurate and relevant to Wikipedia readers researching these topics.
How Can I contact you to understand better how the system works?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.5.84.66 (talk • contribs) 01:15, 12 December 2006.
- Your contributions to wikipedia today consisted mainly of wide-scale external link additions and is considered WP:Spam. Remember wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a link farm. If you have a source to contribute, first contribute some facts that you learned from that source, then cite the source. Don't simply direct readers to another site for the useful facts; add useful facts to the article, then cite the site where you found them. You're here to improve Wikipedia -- not just to funnel readers off Wikipedia and onto some other site, right? see see Links normally to be avoided Hu12 01:21, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
I agree with you, but in some cases the external link IS the added fact. Specifically, if there is a list of commercial implementations of a certain technology, adding a link to another commercial implementation that did not show up on Wikipedia adds to the completeness of the information. Don't you agree? You also edited back one of the changes I made and defined it as "vandalism" when in fact what I did was to correct the information in Wikipedia. Under the multi-core entry I changed "GigaSpaces EAG" to "GigaSpaces" because the company changed the product name. I also agree that in some cases I was too aggressive in linking and I will refrain from doing that, but overall I believe that the great majority of edits I did are highly relevant and cntribute to Wikipedia.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by GPer (talk • contribs) 01:28, 12 December 2006.
- Thank you for rethinking the style in which the links were added, however according to External links policy gigaspaces.com is not suitable for inclusion as it unfortunatly is a Link normally to be avoided.--Hu12 01:53, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- I concur, our external link policy is indeed harsh, but it is the price to pay to not have 50 EL at the bottom of each article (especially in the IT related articles). Don't worry we all make mistakes and yours was done in good faith, but your edits were against Wikipedia Policy. Don't hesitate to put the helpme tag back if you need anything else! -- lucasbfr talk 02:02, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
{{helpme}}If that is the policy, then you have to go to many of these entries and remove other links that are there, for the sake of fairness. Although, I still think that when someone researches these topics, they would want to know what is available out there. Furthermore, there is a contradiction in the policies, as much of the content in these links, which is very relevant to the topic being discussed, contains copyrighted material. I think you need to use judgment here. These are not topics that are being spammed and listed with unnecessary, irrelevant or blatantly commercial links, but links that contribute to the understanding of the topic. That's why the policy says "Links NORMALLY to be avoided" not "Links ALWAYS to be avoided." If that wsa the case, there are millions of links to commercial companies that need to be removed from Wikipedia. I am also pretty shocked that someone went and reversed my edits, even those that contribute to the accuracy of the entry (such as my comment above regarding GigaSpaces EAG). In addition, someone removed the links, which are merely a reference to additional info that I added.
