- Cyrus, I believe the edit was constructive in nature. The documentary in question was not satirical. Additionally, Drew Howe owns an automotive glass repair company not an automotive company. 24.27.109.30 (talk) 15:10, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Revisions to Howe article
- Hi. Firstly I left the glass repair bit it, I didn't change that.
- I wasn't aware that there had been an attempt to sell Vikesland titles - if the was, was it the 'campaign to attract new members' that Howe had mentioned, or is that a leap being made?
- IMO the Tasker link is relevant, even if that's not immediately apparent. That Tasker was descended from Thomas Stanley is independently verifiable, that genealogy is on rec.heraldry. Yes, it should be properly cited, but I couldn't see a way to do that without putting the whole line of descent in there.
- Where it becomes less verifiable of course is Howe's claim to descend from Tasker and Dulaney, although I would guess there are tons of people in the Frederick area who are descendants of the pair.
-
- Thanks Mauls. Upon reflection, I agree with all your comments. I do think the heading "Descended from Daniel Dulaney" places undue weight on the unverified claim, though. I suggest either combining the Dulaney discussion with the section immeadiately preceeding it, or changing the title to "Claims to be descended from..."
-
- Also, Howe himself has noted that "a lot of people want 'sir' in front of their names." His claim is that they were selling Vikeland titles to benefit charity (sound familair?), so I think the addition is appropriate, factual, and verifiable.
-
- Best to you. 24.27.109.30 (talk) 18:07, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
