The adjective form of the name "Diocletian" (used in English contexts for "Diocletianus") should be "Diocletianic." The former is often used, probably by analogy with forms like "Julian" (adj. from "Julius") and "Decian" (from "Decius"); the latter is more correct. Cf. "Nero" / "Neronic." No one speaks of the "the Nero persecution." To avoid the choice: "Diocletian's persecution."
