Hi. An audio engineer needs to be proficient at controlling sound and mix in a recording studio, by use of a mixing desk or console. Anyone who has gained proficiency in using this technical item can be deemed an "audio engineer". Though perhaps not through any professional qualification, Bowie can be alluded to via this title for his work with Iggy Pop (seven tracks on the album Raw Power) and Mott the Hoople (all nine tracks on the album All the Young Dudes), not to mention work on his own recordings.
