[edit] Your Albany, New York edits
I have reverted both your edits to the Albany page and to its corresponding Talk page. Erasing discussions from the Talk page could be considered vandalism and is frowned upon. Bypassing the process of reaching consensus by going ahead and making disputed changes to articles, and removing the corresponding discussion on the Talk page is not the way Wikipedia works. You are welcome to participate in the discussion, but please do not make these types of changes again, until consensus is reached. Thanks. -- Alucard (Dr.) | Talk 20:18, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

- If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make any unconstructive edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant warnings.
[edit] Response to your inquiry on the help desk
It seems clear to me that you have not intended to cause any harm to the Albany, New York article or to any other page. We try to assume good intentions and not to bite the newcomers. We generally define vandalism as edits with intent to cause harm, and I do not perceive such intent.
However, your edits have run afoul of the Wikipedia policy on attribution. Even if a certain detail seems obvious to you because you have lived in Albany, for those of us who don't live there it is not obvious, and you need to cite sources. Even if you say on the talk page, or in an inline reference, that a certain street can easily be found on a map, that is sufficient to prove that you are not making it up - and more than likely, someone will double-check the map to make sure it's correct.
I know the stringent standards of citing sources on Wikipedia are difficult for newcomers to understand. I hope you will skim the relevant policies and continue to edit these pages. Shalom Hello 19:57, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your question on my Talk page
I have answered your inquiry on my Talk page. -- Alucard (Dr.) | Talk 23:50, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Why I reverted your edit.
First, and foremost, I'm sorry, that I issued possibly a harsher warning than may have been needed. From my viewpoint, You had two other warnings, in the last two weeks.
If you'll look at the revert I made [1], you were changing place names, making what seemed to me, to be drastic changes to some text. Not to mention removing large portions of text.
Also, as this is a shared IP, the edit in question may not have even been yours :) You may want to consider registering an account, to prevent this sort of confusion in the future...
Anyhow, I apologize, if the warning template / revert was in error. If there's anything I can help you with, please don't hesitate to ask at my talk page. Thanks, for your patience! --SXT4 07:49, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
