Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

You are welcome to continue editing articles without logging in, but you may wish to create an account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits. For one thing, if you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.

In any case, I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} before the question on your talk page. Again, welcome! [edit] January 2008

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Willard and His Bowling Trophies: A Perverse Mystery. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. BoL 04:06, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make any unconstructive edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant warnings.

Hi, this is Marxus, you can delete Willard and His Bowling Trophies: A Perverse Mystery from wikipedia if you want to because I don't know what to change really. SO you can delete it if you wish.

[edit] February 2008

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Richard Brautigan. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. I am so sorry abput it, I have been on wikipedia since August 2006 and know a lot but some things I do not know like I did not know how to put the citation needed sign until November of last year. Thank you very much for restoring the edit to Richard Brautigan. I noticed you have deleted The God of the Martians article, an unpublished novel by Brautigan. Well thats okay. I haven't checked any recent data because I was on vacation in Florida for the past six days. Thanks for keeping the Richard Brautigan information about his biography because it is correct. I have read about the life of Richard Brautigan. So thanks for contacting me.

[edit] Logging In

Based on your editing patterns, you appear to be the editor Marxus (talk · contribs). [edit] Edit summaries

It is important that you provide edit summaries. Edits without edit summaries are subject to being reverted or deleted. Thank you. Ward3001 (talk) 00:32, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Headings and subheadings

Please stop removing headings and subheadings in articles without first discussing on the article's talk page and waiting for other opinions. That is not the kind of unilateral decision you should be making without others' opinions. There are reasons for headings and subheadings, and your removing them simply because you think they are not needed is not in accordance with acceptable editing practices. Thank you. Ward3001 (talk) 00:36, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Edits on The Tokyo-Montana Express

It appears that you have been editing The Tokyo-Montana Express as such to describe the book as a short story collection instead of a novel. While the book is a short story collection in some ways, it is important to note that the book is *officially* listed as a novel in Brautigan's offical bibliography; thus, the article should state this as well. This issue has been discussed at Talk:Richard_Brautigan#The_Tokyo-Montana_Express, and the contributors agree that the book should be categorized as a novel.

I am going to undo your last edit. If you wish to discuss this issue further on the talk page, feel free to do so, but please do not revert my change without any discussion or explanation. Jphillst (talk) 04:58, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Why not get an acct., etc.

Hi! I see you've been making good, constructive edits at Wikipedia. Let me suggest that you consider creating an account, or at least get in the habit of using the "Edit summary" box when you do an edit. You don't need to put much there-- "copyedit", "sp", "grammar", "revert vandalism" (usually abbreviated as "rv vandalism")-- although you can write quite a lengthy explanation if you want to.

Here's why. As you've probably noticed, there's quite a bit of vandalism on Wikipedia. When folks go looking for vandalism to clean up, the most likely edits are those made by an anonymous editor (one without an account) and with no Edit summary filled in.

So please consider doing one or the other, or better still, both. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Happy editing! --

One other thing. I notice that you often do a number of small edits in a row on the same article. This makes for a crowded edit history, and makes users who want to look over your edits page back through a bunch of (generally) slow-loading pages. You can avoid this by using the Show Preview button more often, holding off on hitting Save Page 'til you're pretty sure you're done.

Hi, this is Marxus, sorry, I don't know how to use those phrases and didn't know how to use them at all. I will try to now since you have told me. You see, I wrote many articles on Richard Brautigan novels such as A Confederate General From Big Sur, The Hawkline Monster: A Gothic Western, Willard and His Bowling Trophies: A Perverse Mystery, Sombrero Fallout: A Japanese Novel, Dreaming of Babylon: A Private Eye Novel 1942, and An Unfortunate Woman: A Journey. For the novels The Hawkline Monster, Willard and His Bowling Trophies, Sombrero Fallout, and Dreaming of Babylon, I don't like when someone else changes what I have written. They create that thing on the right hand side of the novel pages about more information, I don't like that. Especially since there is no pictures on top it makes the article look bad. And I am sorry about the vandalism but I just want people changing my articles and when I change it back it goes back to the one I didn't like. I thank you for your information but please can you make that stop though and I am not trying to be rude or anything I am just asking my articles to be the way I would like them is all. Thank you and please respond.

Please note that you do not own any article; no article on Wikipedia is your article, even if you created it and are the only person who has edited it. So let me strongly suggest that you step back and think before using the phrase "my article" again. Trying to justify your vandalism on the basis that someone does something that you don't like is about the weakest excuse possible. If you continue this kind of editing, let me assure you that you will be blocked. Ward3001 (talk) 19:46, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I'm afraid you'll have to get used to the idea that Wikipedia is an entirely collaborative enterprise-- everything any of us writes is subject to editing by everyone else, and the only way to come close to controlling an article is through persuading other editors that your approach is correct-- you can try using the article's Talk page to that end, and refer people to your argument by using an Edit summary of "... See Talk". And the infoboxes are pretty much standard for many classes of Wikipedia articles, so you can expect to see them added. Cheers! -- Mwanner | Talk 20:55, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi, the recent edit you made to So the Wind Won't Blow It All Away has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks.
