From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. However, we remind you not to attack other editors, as you did on User:VanTucky. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. VanTucky 04:17, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
With regards to your comments on user:VanTucky: Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks will lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. VanTucky 04:27, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

VanTucky, you're taking a typically legalistic approach to defending your uncouth and uncivil comments on the "Toupee" discussion page. I have no interest in engaging in discussion with you, and consider you an annoyance. If you attempt to have me banned, be aware that anyone handling your request will see your actions for what they are. In my personal opinion, and I trust I'm allowed to have one on my own User Talk page, you're a self-righteous annoyance.24.15.208.65 06:12, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Further, I've been contributing to Wikipedia longer than you have. I, unlike you, don't feel the need to throw up flags at every instance or criticize the contributions of others by saying they are "pointless and trivial". Say what you wish - that IS arrogant language, with apparently arrogant intent, by an apparently arrogant person.
- Sorry, this is not your page to blank. You want a page you can call your own, create an account. Until then, this page is used to communicate with whomever uses this IP address. Owen× ☎ 02:31, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
This is your last warning.
The next time you vandalize a page, as you did to User talk:OwenX, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Owen× ☎ 02:37, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Again, as below: Let me get this straight - I own this IP address, or at least I rent it. Its a private residence. VanTucky decides to paste a bunch of glop here, I don't want to see it, and you're DEFENDING his right to do that? I've contributed over 1000 positive edits to Wikipedia and I don't need to be preached to. I'll log in using my main address from now on, but really, you don't like it when I put crap on your talk page, and you reverted it, so why don't I have the right to do the same?24.15.208.65 02:47, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Editing concern
- Please do not post attacking comments such as you just did here on this talk page. Instead, try to add in a positive manner to wikipedia. Thank you. --Kukini hablame aqui 02:39, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User talk pages and user pages
Regarding user talk pages, it is preferred to not delete notices, but instead, to archive them. You will find how to do this here, under "When pages get too long." Your talk page is intended to serve as a place to discuss your contributions. It ends up being a sort of a history of the work you've done and the conflicts you've been in, or the praise you've received. It's alright to archive comments or warnings, but blanking your talk page is relatively less appropriate, as it is not actually yours but instead belongs to us all. Please read WP:USERPAGE and WP:TALK. When you desire to keep the "clutter" down on your user talk page, I suggest that you create archives for these messages. I would be happy to assist you in doing just that if you ask me to. You can see a sample of archives (mine) here. As for your user page, most users seem to use it as a place to describe themselves as people and/or editing entities. Many collect links to pages they are working on and/or have been working on. You user page is more "yours," in a way, than anywhere else on wikipedia, but is not intended to serve as a personal webpage either. Once again, read here to learn more about this. -- Kukini hablame aqui 02:48, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your comments
As stated in the section above, your user talk page is not yours. It belongs to the entire community, which means you cannot do whatever you want to it. I found some of your other comments amusing as well. You say that you have been editing on Wikipedia longer than I have. A quick check of your editcount and my editcount reveals this to be the case by 8 days, but I have been editing on an IP since January 2005. I would also like to point out that I have almost 25 times as many edits as you. I do not find VanTucky's language arrogant; to the contrary, it is standard language and I woulduse the same. - You're not the only one that logs in from different IP addresses and maintains a login ID. My time on this IP address starts from around the time we moved here, and I rarely use it compared to logging in at work during lunch or using my login id. My comments about Vantucky are with regard to his comments on the "toupee" page, which is an odd topic to get hot and bothered about. If this is standard language -- "Sorry to burst your bubble but Wikipedia isn't a Party" -- then I'm Howard Cosell.24.15.208.65 12:30, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

- What is your normal username, then? Is it Matthewdkaufman? By the way, I realize what the argument was about, and though I agree with VanTucky, I realize that his conduct was less than perfact. However, I think that you misunderstand the purpose of a user talk page. You do not "own" your user talk page. VanTucky was not "polluting" it, he was simply posting mild warnings in accordance with policy. Your user talk page exists so that others can see your interactions with the community, whether you want to see them or not. ¿SFGiДnts! ¿Complain! ¿Analyze! ¿Review! 21:21, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an anonymous user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users. Registering also hides your IP address.
