User:24.13.56.195, please sign your comments on Talk pages such as Talk:Carnegie Mellon University. When you don't, it makes it hard for other people to follow what you're saying; and you run the risk of people thinking you're changing other people's comments. If you plan to be a regular contributor to Wikipedia, it would be nice to register a username so your "identity" wouldn't change with your IP address. --Quuxplusone 02:21, 16 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Another pitch for creating an account...

Hi! I see you've been making good, constructive edits at Wikipedia. Let me suggest that you consider creating an account, or at least get in the habit of using the "Edit summary" box when you do an edit. You don't need to put much there-- "copyedit", "sp", "grammar", "revert vandalism" (usually abbreviated as "rv vandalism")-- although you can write quite a lengthy explanation if you want to.

Here's why. As you've probably noticed, there's quite a bit of vandalism on Wikipedia. When folks go looking for vandalism to clean up, the most likely edits are those made by an anonymous editor (one without an account) and with no Edit summary filled in.

So please consider doing one or the other, or better still, both. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Happy editing! -- Mwanner | Talk 20:59, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
