[edit] Social network service
Hi. You have missed my point. The article "Social network service" is not a place to add social networking websites - the article tells readers what a social network service is, but is not designed to list them by name. That's not the purpose of Wikipedia, and is why we call it "spamming" - similar to the emails we don't want in our inbox, but sometimes have no choice about.
At Wikipedia, we do have a choice. We delete any added links which are not there to prove notability of the subject of an article, or if they are not relevant to the subject in some way.
You might try adding an article link to List of social networking websites, but be warned that if you merely add an external link or a bogus article link to the List, it will be removed. Social networking websites must have an article written about them in Wikipedia. Those that don't are not eligible for inclusion.
I hope this has made things a bit clearer for you. Best wishes. Ref (chew)(do) 22:43, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

This is the only warning you will receive. Your recent insertion of spam, commercial content, and/or links is prohibited under policy. Any further spamming may result in your account and/or your IP address being blocked from editing Wikipedia.
Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" is strongly discouraged. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.
If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
- and you must always:
- avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. For more details about what constitutes a conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest. Thank you. --Hu12 (talk) 12:05, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an anonymous user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users. Registering also hides your IP address.
