[edit] Addition of http://www.iHipo.com external link

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to internship. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policy for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. -- SiobhanHansa 14:57, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Request to unblock

This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.

Request reason: "it's a shared IP on a cache serverI don't think that I've been able to edit one page on wikipedia in the last 2 years without having to log in first because this one IP is blocked for 1, 2 and now 3 months for the occasional actions of a few total idiots and some moderators flagging vandalism which is nothing of the sort. 4,000,000 people live in Singapore, perhaps 500,000 of them access the internet through this cache server. All repeated blocks of longer and longer duration do is prevent the majority of people who make constructive edits from making them without registering an account, which most people won't bother to do. The moderators of wikipedia really should look at the total history of edits from an IP, especially one so obviously shared, and deal with the very small percentage of moronic posts by reversion instead of just wholescale blocking the contributions of ... well a country. That's what moderation is about, not just turning off the tap, it's about (in this case) reverting the small percentage of garbage in a stream of mostly good content"

Decline reason: "Given the level of vandalism from this IP it is unwise for us to unblock it at this time. However, the good news is you may still edit. Simply create an account at a different computer, or if that is unfeasable, you may request that an account be created for you by emailing accounts-enwiki-l@lists.wikimedia.org with your requested username and password. Then, an account will be created for you, and you can edit Wikipedia freely without fear of being caught by this block. — Jayron32.talk.contribs 16:41, 29 April 2008 (UTC)"

Please make any further unblock requests by using the {{unblock}} template. However, abuse of the template may result in your talk page being protected.

That stock form reply really didn't answer the point raised. I doubt most people in Singapore who are forced to use that IP (as it's one of THE cache servers for Starhub) will ever go to the trouble of creating an account to edit wikipedia. So you're allowing the actions of a few to prevent many people making legitimate edits. As moderators you shouldn't just block, block and block, sometimes you need to revert bad edits and vandalism but leave the ability of good posters to post.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.186.9.2 (talkcontribs)

Your ability to edit is not harmed. Just create an account as described. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 14:57, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
  • Pardon me for intruding into the conversation here and for saying this: As a fellow Singaporean, I do think it would be for the greater good and common interest of every wikipedians to have yourself a registered account in order to start edit and be accountable for your own edits. Anyway, we do appreciate good edits and even those edits in good faith but the mis-understanding which this particular IP address has caused for the wiki-community is beyond description, last I counted there was twenty six bad edits OR online vandalism logged to this IP address alone for the six month period from October 2007 to March 2008. So what say you now? To register OR not to register? --Dave1185 (talk) 20:53, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
  • Why not talk to your ISP about subscribing to an RSS feed of this page and taking action against vandals who use this IP? I'll bet people would be much less likely to vandalize if they knew they'd get busted for it. GO-PCHS-NJROTC (talk) 00:22, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
