[edit] Talk:SpongeBob SquarePants

Dear editor, regarding this edit, I have reverted it for two reasons: First, you should not remove, or re-factor other people's comments on talk pages, when they are relevant to improving the article. Second, you are replacing your IP with a non-existent username, and that is obviously not done, because there is no such user, and it is not you. Please sign using four tildes after your comments, (~~~~) so others know who posted it. This is important for both continuity, and attribution. If you are concerned about having your IP displayed, please consider creating an account by clicking "Log in" at the top right corner, and then selecting "create an account". While there are thousands of really great anonymous IP editors, having an account offers some benefits that being an IP editor does not, so it is something you may wish to consider. Cheers! CardinalDan, users may remove messages from their talkpages, however, archiving is preferred... Users may not delete others messages, from anywhere else, however. SQLQuery me! 07:14, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Please do not delete or edit legitimate talk page comments, as you did at Talk:SpongeBob SquarePants. Such edits are disruptive and appear to be vandalism. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. SQLQuery me! 07:18, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

[edit] Linking your signature to a non-existent user

Dear editor. Again, please review the signature guidelines, here. You are linking your comments to a non-existent username, you need to either get an account of your own, if you do not want your IP showing up (it is in the history no matter what), or sign properly using four tildes, as explained above. Thank you, ArielGold 07:26, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

However, if you'd like to register the account User:Porkchop, you are more than welcome to do so right here!. If you need someone to create it for you, we can do that, too, Over here. Thanks! SQLQuery me! 07:28, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Everyone else doesn't have their own account, that means I don't need one. What the hell do you think you're doing. 218.101.70.13 08:33, 5 December 2007

You need one, if you're going to sign as one. You're welcome to participate, just please stop changing your signature to that of an account that you do not control. Thanks, SQLQuery me! 07:35, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
As I explained, you are replacing your IP signature, with an invalid, non-existent account, in other words, those reading your comments will think that someone else made them, but there is nobody named "Porchcrop", so they would be unable to communicate with you. I've explained that you should read the page that explains why signing is important, and also explained that if you do not wish to have your IP visible in your signature, you should sign up for your own account. We have all been quite patient, and we are trying to assist you to understand why your actions are not in line with the policies and guidelines here, it would be quite helpful if you could read these policies and guidelines, so you understand why Wikipedia is a bit different than other sites you may have come across. Please stop signing your posts with a non-existent user, and consider registering your own account. (You could even register that name, if you wish!) Cheers, ArielGold 07:37, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Please stop. If you continue to delete or edit legitimate talk page comments, you will be blocked for vandalism. LaraLove 07:34, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

You have been temporarily blocked from editing in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for persistent vandalism. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below. Alison 07:58, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Continued bad Username on Talk:SpongeBob SquarePants

You'll are changing my username, in order to make me create an account. I don't need to create an account. Because Wikipedia users don't need to create an account, and I'm an unregistered user. Not only that, my username remains the same because I chose it. In other words "TREAT OTHER PEOPLES WORK WITH RESPECT!!!". And as a punishment, I put my username that you'll suggested as your user name, if it happens again, I'll do it twice, got that?. -Porchcrop (talk) 05:41, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

This is your final warning. Please review the signature guidelines here. Linking your comments to a non-existent username is not acceptable. If you wish to use this name, you must register it, otherwise, you must sign using four tildes (~) leaving your IP visible. If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia in this regard, you will be blocked from editing. Lara_Love Talk 04:34, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Oh really, Wow, because I'm not going to change my username, and Wikipedia is for Everybody to edit, so stop changing my username, and I'm an unregistered user, Wikipedia users don't need to register, got that. -Porchcrop (talk) 05:41, 9 December 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.101.70.13 (talk)

As it has been explained to you, by many others, and myself, you are not signing with "your username". You are not using an account, and by your own admission, do not wish to make an account. That is fine, you are more than welcome without having a username account. However, signing with a non-existent username is not acceptable, per the signature page, again, I really urge you to understand the difference, and to realize what you are doing. When someone reads your comments, they will think that a person named "Porchcrop" wrote them. No such user exists, so obviously, no such user made those comments, 218.101.65.46 made the comments, and that is what I, and the others, are asking you to respect. As you can see, since the software knows that the username doesn't exist, you will be automatically signed anyway. This is a function of the Wikimedia software, that is designed to give attribution to who posted what. ArielGold 04:43, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
