[edit] great blasket island
hi paul, yes, i did make a mistake in stating it's open again. i haven't been out on the blaskets since the late nineties, but my family are close friends with many residents of dunquin (including the slatterys, who used be involved in the management of the guest house, and the ferry). it was only recently one of them was staying with us and informed me about the unfortunate situation on the island at the moment. it's very sad, especially because it's a place i'm very fond of; i spent a lot of my childhood summers out there. --Kaini 22:07, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- i see no need to delete this, really! my own name is dave mulqueen, and i'm from limerick, if that rings any bells.
- nice to hear sue's name, she knows my parents more than me really. i was planning to try and make it down there over the summer with my girlfriend, at least to camp for a night, but i understand why you might want to leave your memories unsullied. i've been at many excellent parties in the slattery's place on the island, it really is an awful shame it's gone, but i believe only one of the family is involved with fishing/the ferry now anyway. and i certainly agree with you, the blaskets should be for everyone, not bickered over for a cut, like a piece of meat :(
- by the way if place four tildes (~~~~)at the end of your messages, it will sign them with the date, time, and a link to your talk page, like this :) --Kaini 22:37, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I don't recall your name. I would be, I think, the same generation of the Slattery parents - you sound like you might be a few generations younger than me. It good to hear that camping is still seems viable on the island. If and when the state takes over I wonder if that will still be the case? My guess is it will be - but it will be very controlled.
Paul

Hello Paul, and thanks for writing to me regarding 1832 Reform Acts. Unfortunately I am not the editor you're looking for - I have no idea what this article is about. Best wishes and happy editing. • Freechild'sup? 12:21, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
