Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites that you are affiliated with, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. [edit] Stop Spamming Wikipedia
As an encyclopedia we have clear policies on maintaining a neutral point of view. Please read and follow the policies and guidelines you have already been referred to above. If you continue to add external links to websites you design, control or otherwise have an interest in promoting, you will be blocked from editing. Persistent spammers will have their sites blacklisted. We encourage you to help us build an open content encyclopedia, but you may not use Wikipedia to promote your or your clients' point of view. --Siobhan Hansa 15:19, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] It's important to understand Wikipedia's policies to avoid blacklisting
As a Wikipedia volunteer, I thought I would spell some things out in hopes of avoiding hassles for everyone. I am not writing in an official capacity, but I am providing you links to various Wikipedia policies, guidelines and resources.
Please see the following policies and guidelines:
- Wikipedia:Conflict of interest
- Wikipedia:Notability (companies and corporations)
- Wikipedia:Editing with a conflict of interest
- Wikipedia:External links
In a nutshell, people affiliated with Kellen Interactive should not be adding spam links to Wikipedia articles tying them to Kellen clients' web sites. Kellen-affiliated personnel should not be publishing or editing articles associated with Kellen clients.
We're familiar with Kellen Communication's decision to spam Wikipedia with unauthorized, prohibited spam links and vanity articles. That's why Wikipedia's founder has banned Kellen from editing Wikipedia articles.
Please see the discussion of Wikipedia's spam blacklist and decide if this is something you want to pursue. Links to domains added to this list are blocked not only in the English language version of Wikipedia but also in every other language version plus all other Wikipedia Foundation projects such as Wikihow, Wiktionary, etc.
It's permanent.
Think about it. Do you want to force this on your clients?
And also note this October 2006 discussion about a proposed initiative to publish our list of Wikipedia spammers for use by Google and other search engines building their own blacklists. It's unclear that this initiative will come to fruition, but if it does, you would not want your sites' Google placement endangered by spamming Wikipedia.
Cheers,

[edit] This account edits in conjunction with another account as well (71.204.14.32)
This user also uses 71.204.14.32 (talk · contribs) to make spam-edits as well. Both have been thoroughly warned. So has this user's employer (by Jimbo Wales). --A. B. 15:01, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Note Jimbo Wales' comments on Kellen's moves as quoted in an interview:
- ""Wales: I deleted the articles and banned Kellen Communications from contributing. I think that PR-firms editing in a community space is deeply unethical, and that clients should put very firm pressure on their PR firms to not embarrass them in this way."
