User talk:216.58.96.134

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have the same problem. I am blocked and never vandalized anything. If anybody wonders, the ISP is cia.com a.k.a cybersurf a.k.a 3web. They are cheaper, but ...cheapness comes at a price...
If you still want to make changes, just create an account :).

  • sigh* Stupid vandals....

So, as the git below mentioned, this is dynamic a IP address, provided by a small ISP in Canada. It's interesting to note though, that the resolution of it is incorrect. That is to say, although Wikipedia is preventing me from making a correction due to my IP address being banned, the IP address being banned is not the one I have. In fact, they differ in all four octets.

When I open up a shell and run "ifconfig", it shows that my IP address is not the 216.58.96.134 as listed above, but a different one altogether, 209.195.87.153. When I go to another page that reads the client's IP address (www.whatismyip.com), they read the correct 209 one as well. If you do a whois on those IP's you'll see that they are owned by "Cyberus" and "IGS", each of which are children of a larger company called "Cybersurf". That ownership is the only connection between those two addresses - they're owned by the same ISP and being assigned to DSL customers through the same server.

So I'm about to kill my PPPoE connection, get a new IP address, and log back in to see if I can make the one-letter grammatical correction I was going to make on the "electric eel" article. Someone who maintains the server back-end may want to review how IP addresses are getting resolved.

If you are that hyped up about a one letter grammatical correction that you ave to type all that, then maybe you should just register a login name and not be anonymous anymore. --Rajah 05:34, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

DYNAMIC IP FTW - hahahaha so I can get an unsuspecting person who get assigned this IP banned ahahahaha

TO ALL WIKIPEDIA MAINTAINERS OR WHATEVER THE HELL YOU CALL YOURSELVES: I don't know why there is such a big list of reverted edits here. The only thing on this list I did was change the link for "Monopoly" to direct to the "Oral Sex" page. If you can't get your corrections straight, don't bother notifying me.I haven't even visited any of these other pages.

[edit] Freddy vs Jason

I have reverted your edits to FvJ, because "plot holes" are unencyclopedic, like trivia or "goofs". Secondly, Jason isn't "afraid" of water in reality, only in Freddy's Dreamworld. So, even your "plot hole" doesn't hold water, all pun intended. Bignole 16:15, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

I've informed you that what you are adding is unencyclopedic, and seeing as Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a fanwebsite, if you continue to add unencyclopedic information after being informed of its true status it will be considered vandalism. I have also informed you that your original research is false. Original research is not permitted on Wikipedia, as per its policy. Bignole 16:57, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
What part of "you're wrong" doesn't register. Jason is not "afraid" of water in reality, only in the "dreamworld". Since no film, prior to FvJ, has detailed Jason in a dreamworld, nor has any film detailed Jason having a nightmare, anything that occurs in said environment is not a plothole but a new branch on an existing plot line. Thank you. Bignole 00:20, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Maybe you don't understand. There is NO retcon. Jason's "phobia" is part of his nightmare, not part of his "reality". Thus there is no problem. Stop adding it. Bignole 19:49, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Innocent User

Hi. I am an innocent Wikipedia user who has never done anything to vandalize this amazing website and community. I'm assuming that this is a dynamic IP, and therefore someone else has done so using it. I was very surprised to go to a wiki page and see "You have new messages", which linked to a page with such angry comments. I'm really not sure how IP adresses work, but I hope that I will not be stopped from editing Wikipedia because of someone else's fault. If this IP is banned, will I still be able to edit when logged onto my user account, or not at all?

Glad to see someone else is having the same problem. Last night, the warning message poppedup, and today I'm blocked. I tried signing on to my user account (I don't usually use it. This was the first time in months.) But for some reason, it's blocked too. I left this message:

"I don't know what the hell is wrong with you guys but your system is screwed up. This is the second time I've been blocked for no reason, none of the supposed directions to get myself unblocked work. Last night, a "this is a warning" message popped up when I hadn't changed anything in weeks. Then, today, it told me I had been blocked. I hadn't even changed anything. I checked the list of recent edits, and only one of them was my own. The rest were pages I've never visited in my life. By the way, it was my computer's IP address that had been blocked, not my username. But when I signed in, I found it had been blocked by a different editor, and this is the first time in over a month that I've even signed in. For one of the most elaborate and widely-used sites on the web, you guys are terrible at running a website. Clean up your act, morons, and stop blocking people who actually give you valuable input."

I still can't edit anything though.

I got the message too. I looked at my edit history and I surprised to see pages I had never edited. Something must be screwed up because I rarely ever edit Wikipedia.

[edit]  ???

When I tried to edit a page, a message said that I was blocked for vandalism and my IP was 216.58.96.134. The first thing I did was check my contributions. I found that it showed pages I had never even visited. Then I checked my IP which turned out to be 209.195.104.32. Does anyone else have a problem like this and can you get it fixed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.58.96.134 (talkcontribs)

  • I am the admin who blocked this address. As it's probably a dynamic address, chances are someone else did the vandalism. I'll unblock it for now (trusting ya, ok?) but what you really need to do is set up your own account so you can login and keep track of your own edits, have a userpage, etc. It's free, easy and only takes a minute - Alison 04:11, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia after the block has expired, you will be blocked for longer and longer periods of time.Kukini hablame aqui 02:27, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

What is this? I've never been to any of these pages...I've made edits before; they amounted to adding a comma and a semicolon. WHY am I blocked???

I'm not particulaily adept with the editing system...but I just don't understnad why the heck I'm being punished for someone else's transgressions...is this some kind of sick joke?

-Dissatisfied.
