[edit] "Encyclopedia" vs. "Encyclopaedia"

Hello there: Just thought I'd clarify re. the spelling - "encyclopaedia" is the UK English spelling, and "encyclopedia" is the US English spelling. In general, on Wikipedia we don't change UK English spellings to US English ones, or vice versa, simply to prevent endless arguments over which should be used. This is because the English Wikipedia caters for all English-speaking nations, not for a specific geographically-defined dialect, and so spelling and grammar used by different editors will vary but are correct within each editor's usage. [edit] ...

I noticed the message you recently left to a newcomer. Please remember to try not to bite the newcomers. If you see someone make a common mistake, try to politely point out what they did wrong and how to correct it. Thank you. HalfShadow 02:28, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
