[edit] Edits to China

Your edits to China are somewhat questionable - China was an entity (a country, in fact, and historically a kingdom); the ethnicity is Chinese. ugen64 22:22, Apr 8, 2004 (UTC)

Please stop making nonsense edits. ugen64 22:25, Apr 8, 2004 (UTC)

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions, however, please don't delete large portions of content without good reason. I wrote the Jacob Safra article you edited. If you disagree with my account of the trial please explain your reasons.

[edit] Encarta lists

They where generated from the online source, why would I have a relationship with them? Martin - The non-blue non-moose 16:55, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

Someone implied that the source of the Encarta lists had a relationship with Encarta. See http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:2004_Encyclopedia_topics&diff=prev&oldid=21659576 - 16:59, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
I think that was a joke, because they realised straight away who you were. Martin - The non-blue non-moose 17:24, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
For the record, I never believed I was anonymous. I do my anonymous posting from another ISP ;) 18:02, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
Sure, I bet your bosses eencourage you to contribute to Wikipedia in work hours ;) Martin - The non-blue non-moose 18:32, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

Who are you, and why do you ask?, just out of interest. Martin - The non-blue non-moose 16:59, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

I'm an EB employee (and not a lawyer). I'm mostly just curious as to how the list was generated. Even EB does gap analysis, you know (although that's not my job either). - 16:59, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
Are you serious? If so, do you not mind? By the way, we would be happy to generate a list of articles wiki has but don't appear in the EB2005 ;).
What do you think of wikipedia compared to EB? Martin - The non-blue non-moose 17:05, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
And could you get into the habit of signing your entries to talk pages with ~~~ or ~~~~? It's an accepted convention, even when you are just an IP address, and just saves everyone else the time it takes to check the history. David Brooks 23:03, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
Oh, I wondered how you guys were getting that. Lemme try:

[edit] WP v. EB

Martin asked "What do you think of wikipedia compared to EB?"

I don't have time to articluate my complete thoughts on the matter at present, but I think wikipedians in general have misunderstood EB's function. There is significant overlap, but they are not as similiar as many would seem to believe. I think maybe Ward Cunningham had it right. They are different beasts. - 216.146.93.139 23:33, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Linkfixes

Dear colleague, thanks for adjusting the weblinks to your website. I assume that this IP is used by more than one at EBI, so you might consider to create an account at wikipedia. -- 84.176.181.26 08:00, 12 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Re: link removal from June 24

I removed the link from June 24 because you are an Encyclopaedia Britannica employee and you added a link to your employer's website. Wikipedia generally frowns upon contributing links to one's own website especially without adding contributions from the source to Wikipedia at the same time. This is not a judgement on the quality of the cited source. After reading these guidelines, feel free to re-add the link if you believe it is fair to do so. [edit] Chicago area meetup

I've finally decided on a place for the first Wikipedia meetup in Chicago: 2 p.m. at Saturday, October 15th at Cafe Iberico, a tapas bar in the River North neighborhood of Chicago at 739 N. La Salle Drive. They have parking available and are 0.3 mile from the Chicago stop of the CTA Red Line. See their website for parking information; for transit planning use the RTA trip planner with a destination address of "739 N. La Salle Dr." Cafe Iberico has vegetarian selections for those who are so inclined (sorry, they're not very vegan-friendly, I'm afraid). The food is excellent and the environment very suitable for an informal gathering. Do check their webpage for any additional questions, or ask me. They typically cost typically costs between $10 and $15 per person; I'm willing to cover for anyone for whom this is too much (as long as we don't get too many people).

Please let me know before Saturday, October 8th (by email or on my talk page) if you're planning on coming so I can make the appropriate reservations. See you there! Oh, and please share this invitation with anyone you know of in the Chicago area who I've missed. Kelly Martin 19:53, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
