Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will answer your questions as far as I can. Again, welcome, and I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian. SeveroTC 16:48, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Lance Armstrong

WP:BLP:

Unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material — whether negative, positive, or just questionable — about living persons should be removed immediately and without discussion from Wikipedia articles, talk pages, user pages, and project space.

You can't just say someone has used EPO, because that is defamatory and libellous if it isn't sourced. There are many discussion forums about the subject on the internet if you want to discuss the subject. The Wikipedia talk page is there to discuss the article, not the subject. Regards, SeveroTC

The source is already in the article. I did discuss the article, most notably the fact that it's a fanboy hackjob with zero basis in reality. Totally aside from that, facts are never defamatory or libellous. The ledger for that is not the sourcing, but the truth. Also, the statement you removed did not at all include statements about "living persons", but about EPO testing. --213.209.110.45 07:03, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your interest in this article. I am however surprised that your suggestion that the following is sourced in the article:

Given that he used EPO back then, given that several members of his team were actually caught using doping, given that several of his chief opponents have admitted to or have been proven to have used illicit methods, the only reason one could assume that he didn't is assuming that he has superhuman powers and his real name is Clark Kent.

The Lance Armstrong article really needs improvement - and I simply don't have the patience for it. I think huge sections of the article are rubbish and I agree with you fanboyish - particularly the Reasons for success section. You will notice I placed a tag on one of those parts the other day. Yet resorting to libellous rants about the subject on the talk page gets the article nowhere. Why don't you sign up and help in rewriting the article? Regards, SeveroTC 09:04, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My talk page

If you don't like something I have written, please bring it up on my talk page rather than leaving it on an article talk page. It's always best to keep article talk pages focussed and on topic. Regards, SeveroTC 14:59, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

It is you who didn't keep it on topic and instead started slandering sources. --213.209.110.45 15:10, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
I considered whether a source was reliable, and left it in the article. I may have been close to the line with Franke, and gave my opinion, clearly stated as such. If you, or indeed any other of the editors of the page, believe it was libellous then it is your responsibility to remove on sight, without discussion. I did leave his statements in the article though, conforming to BLP as it is in the form of X accuses Contadaor of Y and as consensus of the community (i.e. no one agreed with me!). I really think you should sign up with an account as, for now, the Contador article has semi-protection which I think means IPs can't edit it, and it seems silly you can't keep an eye on the article for vandalism as well as to improve it as I think you have opinions worth hearing. Once again, thanks for coming to Wikipedia as, the more editors we have, the better the project will be. Regards, SeveroTC 15:29, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] T-Mobile

For sure, but I don't understand the issue here. The team still exists, at the moment called High Road but maybe there will be a new sponsor announced soon and a new semi-permanent name, who knows. The point is some people we're getting in very quick to same the team no longer exists, which is just not true. SeveroTC 13:21, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

The Team still exists, but not as Team T-Mobile, so if anything, it would be corrected to move the page and introduce a redirect. --213.209.110.45 (talk) 09:38, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
