Hi - the IP address in question here (210.15.217.194) is the external IP for St. Berndard's College in Essendon, Victoria. It looks like some of our students have been having a little 'fun' here, and as College webmaster I can tell you that I'm not amused. Is there a way that Wikipedia can permanently block anonymous edits from this IP address, while still allowing legitimate edits from staff- or student-created accounts? Even if there isn't, after discussing the matter with our systems administrator, we've agreed that our IP should be permanently blocked for editing anyway, since students ought not be engaging in this activity from school unless directed to do so in class (and I can't imagine that happening). It would be a shame if our staff were not able to create accounts and edit Wikipedia from school though.

I'm hoping a workable compromise can be reached that suits all parties concerned.

Kevin Futter St. Bernard's College Webmaster

Hi Kevin. Thanks for your note. This ip has been blocked permanently from making anonymous edits, however accounts may still be created. Hope this helps. -- Longhair 04:21, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
