[edit] Fleshlight spam
Please stop adding commercial links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. -- Nigel (Talk) 15:35, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
I noticed you edited out the links I inserted, to an existing Wiki page Fleshlight (not to a commercial product off-site, as you claim). Yet you let stand links and references to another commercial product, ona cups, which doesn't even have its own wiki page. If there's some logic here that escapes me, please explain? Why would links from the Masturbation page to an existing page about a male masturbation practice be unacceptable and deleted as "redundant references to commercial product", yet mention and links to another commercial product for the same purpose be allowed? If I was being fair, I'd either let both stand, or delete both, or at worst delete the references to ona cups, not to the Fleshlight wiki page?
I could just restore the Masturbation page to the way I'd like it to be and then we could engage in an extended edit battle, but instead I'm doing you the courtesy of discussing it first, to see if we can agree.
P.S. I noticed for some reason Wiki does not enter my user name. You can reach me via email at fleshjoe at fleshjoe no spam dot spam die com. user:209.233.24.218
Hey Joe:
Sorry to step on your toes. Remember that the article is about Masturbation, and not to recommend commercial products. Probably some Wikipedians would consider a reference to Fleshlight as completely innapropriate. Other, like myself, would think that a discrete reference, put in the right place, might be okay. (See Nigel's comment above).
The place where it was most notable was: Another technique is to place just the index finger and thumb around the penis about halfway along the shaft and move the skin up and down. A variation on this is to place the fingers and thumb on the penis as if playing a flute, and then shuttle them back and forth. A less common technique is to lie face down on a comfortable surface such as a mattress or pillow and rub the penis against it until orgasm is achieved. This technique includes the use of an artificial vagina or simulacrum to achieve orgasm. See e.g. Fleshlight.
It dod not belong here.
The other section, where the ona cup and the tenga are mentioned, could probably be rewritten so that they are in references, or maybe to include the fleshlight.
For instance, what might fly:
Masturbation devices designed for men have started selling on the market portraying the image of the modern men that openly regards masturbation as a relaxing and fun part of his lifestyle. See the Tenga[1] and Fleshlight.
Probably someone would complain about that one, though. Better would be removal of that section, and addition to the references below with something like:
[edit] Male Masturbation Aids
I will try implementing the latter, and see how many people complain.
