[edit] Cold War Victory Medal
Please do not cut and paste sections word for word from other websites onto this site. It is considered bad form and could cause a copyright violation. Citing a reference on another website is fine, but blanket cutting and pasting is generally frowned upon.
You should also be aware that Cold War Recognition Certificate has its own article. Creating duplicate articles on the same subject usually results in either reverts or mergers. -Husnock 03:47, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- You were asked nicely to stop, but continued to revert to the contested and possible copyright violation version. For this reason, the article has been protected. I would suggest creating a user account, learning a bit more about Wikipedia policies and then return to edit. Your contributions are appreciated, just please follow the procedures that are in use here. -Husnock 04:53, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
As far as the "extra information" I added back I did this because because it was posted by Charles P. McDowell the owner of the medal. That information is his own as is the medal. He posted it not me. Therefore it is not a copyright violtion. He has the right to put the most accurate information about the medal on the article. Please email him at foxfall@nexet.net so you can verify the creation and ownership of the medal. He did in fact have it created and made it available to those who wanted to purchase the medal. He also sold some of the medals to others for purpose of resale, that is why they are available on other websites. -User:209.216.179.19 22Mar06
- The article has been unprotected. This appears to be more of a misunderstanding of Wikipedia workings rather than an intent to introduce incorrect or copyvio information. I encourage you to esabliosh an account, create a user page, and edit forcibly but within the standards of Wiki. As far as the Cold War article goes, you are free to insert whatever you wish but please do not start a Wikipedia:Edit war and try not to blanket cut and paste material from other websites. Thanks for your cooperation. -Husnock 15:19, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
